Individual task of inspirations

About my project 5, I will continue to develop my project 1-“Soft Space”, But I will move it from the hidden location to the conspicuous location this time. Because my client as a wine collector, he wants his collection to be seen by as many people as possible. However, wine is something that take time to make and accumulate which is pertaining to the time. So I would choose a traditional, bustling and period location, It is then highlighted with a new and visually striking design that is instantly visible.

Regarding the design part, most people consider the polygon to be the most powerful because it is angular and aggressive, while the sphere is soft and gentle, and it seems difficult to use it as an important part of the architecture or interior structure. But for this project, I want to express the power of spherical shape, but also the fusion and conflict between the soft curves and vertical structure.

new design concept

I found an awesome project about this opinion which is an architectural installation designed by pone architecture studio at Guangzhou Design Week in 2015,they tried to rediscover the alternating potential of order construction. Urged by the question on how to integrate architecture to further interact and blend cities, environments, human beings and space, it created the construction unit “Transparent Shell”. Meanwhile, it is also a reflection on creating and recreating.

The whole device consists of 30 main bone models and 3 groups of large-radian curves. Based on concepts, Transparent Shell gains inspiration from a rich variety of sequences in nature. By dissecting, extracting shell structure and restructuring, it reveals the tension of life evolution.

Conch-shape helix is blended with vertical, balanced, stable and standard three-dimensional grid. Density and depth of different degrees are on one hand, in mutual erosion, harmony and coexistence and on the other hand, in antagonism, competition and conflict.

This installation is similar to my project in that we also want to express two different design approaches and structures,I only wanted to use the spherical shapes and soft curves derived from the bubbles to design the whole space when I first designed this project. But after looking at the project I thought that the inclusion of some vertical structures would make my project more visually contradictory and better express my main idea that “soft curves can also be a major part of the building structure”.

new design

Unlike the pone architecture studio, which uses vertical structures to hold curves, but I wanted to include vertical structures within spherical shapes, which reinforces my concept and the direction I want to take in the future – the critical nature of curves in architecture and interior design. In conclusion, this project is really give me a lot of inspirations and ideas, all of my projects is related to circles and curves, but I didn’t understand where I ultimately wanted to research and design and innovate and what the meaning was, and with my own project 5 and this installation, I know what I have been designing with curves for.
